Creating and Maintaining a Sustainable Food Conversation in the Healthcare Setting

The current U.S. food conversation is vast, complex and constantly changing. From fiber
to hormone free, fast to slow and conventional to organic, healthcare professionals and
health organizations are challenged with creating consistent, evidence-based and
sustainable food messages that resonate from the healthcare setting to the home kitchen.
In this visionary workshop, Amanda Archibald introduces think maps, as educational, promotional and branding tools that provide a consistent conversation throughout an organization. Using Food Choice Pathways and The Nutrition Roadmap as examples, Amanda illustrates how think maps can be integrated throughout a healthcare organization enabling a sustainable, health-supportive food conversation to resonate from farm to loading dock, clinic to hospital cafeteria and from the patient menu to the home kitchen space. Participants will learn how to navigate a nutrition roadmap. Thereafter create their own basic roadmap using a theme or focus specific to their personal organization or setting.

KEY TOPICS: Food and nutrition education; sustainability; environmental awareness; menu ideation; food and menu marketing

Recommended workshop time: 90 minutes – 60 minutes without applied learning
